Dr. Gavin Malcolm Spence is a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon with over 24 years’ experience in both surgical and non-surgical treatments. His practice has been solely concerned with orthopedic problems in children, having worked at both of the leading pediatric hospitals in London which specialize in rare and complex cases.

In 10 years as a consultant he has performed nearly 4000 procedures independently. He was the first surgeon in the UK to successfully conduct a complex pediatric limb deformity correction with Circular External Fixation and/or Intramedullary Limb Lengthening using Wittenstein Fitbone.

After his clinical fellowships in pediatric orthopedics, he worked as a Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon with special interest in Limb Reconstruction at Evelina London Children’s Hospital & Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London.

In addition to clinical work, he has a particular interest in Teaching and served as a Surgical Tutor to Great Ormond Street Hospital. For many years he ran several popular educational courses for trainees. In 2019 was voted “Trainer of the Year” by the British Orthopedic Trainees’ Association. He spent two years at Cambridge University’s Orthopedic Research Unit whilst studying for his MD research degree, and has contributed several important research papers concerned with basic science as well as clinical subjects.
