Dr. Luc obtained his medical degree at the internationally leading Faculty of Medicine of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) in Belgium, one of the oldest and most renowned research universities in Europe. He continued his training in General and Cardiac Surgery through the KUL residency program, obtaining board certification in General Surgery (1995) and Cardiac Surgery (1996). Throughout his career, he continued to demonstrate his knowledge and skills, resulting in European Board Certification in Cardiovascular Surgery (FETCS, 2000) and German Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery (2005). Dr. Luc also completed the MBA programme at Henley Management College in 2008.

He started his professional journey at the Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin (DHZB), one of the leading cardiac centres in Germany, joining its senior staff (Oberarzt) in 1996. DHZB supported him in completing a Clinical Fellowship with Dr. Tirone David at the University of Toronto (1999), where after he returned to DHZB to further develop its valve surgery program.

From 2005 onward, Dr. Luc has practised in Abu Dhabi, initially leading the Cardiac Services department at Mafraq Hospital, then the Adult Cardiac Surgery department at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. In 2017, he was detached to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

From January 2019, he has joined NMC Royal Hospital, bringing 24 years of experience in adult Cardiac Surgery.

Dr. Luc has been an investigator in clinical trials (FDA), has published internationally and has presented in national and international meetings. He was responsible for the Cardiac Surgery training of surgical residents as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University Al Ain.

He is fluent in Dutch, English and German and has working knowledge of French.
