Dr. Oussama Chaar is a Consultant in Orthopedic Surgery and Head of Department at the Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Oussama obtained his MD degree from Liege University, Belgium on 1984. He then went on to pursue a fellowship at Liege University in Orthopedics and traumatology with subspecialty in joint replacement surgery which he competed on 1990.He obtained also a diploma in Biomechanics from ULB university of Brussels and has been awarded by the “Lejeunne and Lechien Scientific Foundation” of Liege University, Faculty of Medicine.
After 12 years of successful intensive clinical activity in Belgium, Dr. Oussama practiced extensively in his home country Syria from 2002 to 2012 as a Senior Consultant in Arthroplasty, where he developed his own department of joint replacement and was appointed head of orthopedic department at the hospital. Post 2013, Dr. Oussama moved to the Middle East where he practiced at a key government hospital in Abu Dhabi before moving to a private hospital as a Consultant and Head of orthopedic department.
Dr. Oussama has more than 27 years of experience in his field with several thousands of hip and knee joint replacement surgeries achieved successfully. He has particular interest in difficult primaries, hip and knee revision, complex pelvic fractures, and bone tumors surgeries. He has long experience in total hip replacement for congenital hip dislocation. More than 50 patients with severe high riding dislocation were successfully managed without femoral shortening osteotomy.
Dr. Oussama Chaar is speaker and member of the scientific committee organizing every year the orthopedic MENA conference in Dubai. Dr. Oussama is also a member of the Belgian Society for Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology and of the Syrian Society for Orthopedic Surgery. He is active in the medical community and participates in major medical conferences both as a speaker and attendee.
