Dr Shailesh Kumar passed MBBS examination from Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Gauhati

University, Assam (India) in 2002. He worked as a Resident in the Department of Medicine and

Cardiology of Lok Nayak Hospital and G.B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi.

He completed his Medicine training from National University Hospital, Singapore from July 2005 to June

2010 and passed the membership examination of Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in

2010. Following this, he worked as a Registrar from July 2010 to June 2014 in the Department of

Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Singapore General Hospital and completed Advanced Specialist

Training in Gastroenterology. He is certified as a specialist in Gastroenterology by Specialist

Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health, Singapore. He is Fellow of the Academy of Medicine and College

of Physicians, Singapore.

He is Specialty Certified in Gastroenterology by Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom and

British Society of Gastroenterology. He is also certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology by European

Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (EBGH).

Dr Shailesh worked as an Associate Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology,

Singapore General Hospital from July 2014 to May 2015. He was appointed as Clinical Tutor and Clinical

Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine (YLL School of Medicine) of the National University of Singapore from

2010 to 2015. He has completed a one-year fellowship in Advanced Interventional Endoscopy from

Erasmus MC, University Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Dr Shailesh joined Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands as a Fellow in Advanced

Interventional Endoscopy in June 2015 and completed one-year fellowship. He was working in a Private

hospital in Dubai before joining Thumbay Hospital, Ajman in May 2018.

Dr Shailesh Kumar is trained in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Liver Transplant, Inflammatory Bowel

Diseases, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Advanced Imaging and Advanced Interventional Endoscopy. He is

expert in the diagnosis and endoscopic management of early-stage cancers in oesophagus, stomach,

small intestine and large intestine. He has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of
