Macular degeneration, also called age-related macular dystrophy\/degeneration (AMD), is an eye condition<\/a> that causes vision loss. It affects the macula (area of \u200b\u200bthe retina) and center of the field of vision.  The macula is the central part of the retina responsible for eyesight, which we use when reading, writing, threading a needle, recognizing faces, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
