Kerala Ayurvedic Treatment

Ayurveda Treatment is a natural medical system that began in India over 3,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). Thus, the term translates to the knowledge of life. Kerala Ayurvedic Treatment operates on the principle that disease is due to imbalance or stress in a person’s consciousness, and it encourages certain natural therapies and lifestyle interventions to regain a balance between the body, mind, spirit and environment. The treatment combines products that are mainly derived from plants and other substances, diet, exercise and lifestyle.

What is Ayurvedic Medicine?

This is an ancient Indian medical system that is based on ancient writings that rely on natural and holistic approaches to physical and mental treatment. It is one of the oldest treatment systems and it remains to this day one of the traditional or alternative treatment options in India. The treatment is equivalent to Western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, naturopathic medicine, and homoeopathic medicine. The practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine in India undergo state-recognized and institutionalized training. Currently, Ayurvedic practitioners do not have much recognition and licensing outside India, and there are no set or recognized national standards for Ayurvedic certification or training. However, in some countries like the United States, some Ayurvedic schools have gained approval as educational institutions in some states.

How does it work?

Ayurveda treatment starts with an internal purification process, which is followed by a special diet, along with herbal treatments, massage therapy, meditation and yoga practices.

In Ayurvedic medicine, it is believed that the primary basis of medicine is the universal interconnectedness of the body’s constitution and life forces, also referred to as prakit and doshas respectively. The main aim of the treatment is to:

  • help the individual eliminate the impurities,
  • reduce the symptoms of their illnesses,
  • increase resistance to diseases,
  • reduce the worry associated with the illness
  • increase the individual’s harmony in life.

In Ayurvedic treatment, herbs and other plants like some common spices and oils, are used extensively.

What is the Concept of Ayurveda Treatment?

When utilized in conjunction with established, conventional medical care, Ayurveda can have beneficial results. Those who practice Ayurveda believe that every human being is made up of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth. In the human body, these unite to generate three life forces or energies known as doshas. They control how the body functions. They are the Vata dosha (space and air), Pita dosha (fire and water), and Kapha dosha (water and air). Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas, but one is usually stronger than the others. Each one controls a different body function, and it is believed that an individual’s chances of getting sick and any health issues that they develop are linked to the balance of the doshas.

Vata dosha

Ayurveda practitioners believe that this is the most powerful of all the three doshas. It regulates fundamental bodily functions such as cell division. It also controls the mind, breathing, heart function, blood flow as well and excretion through the bowels. Some things that can disrupt this are fear, grief, staying up too late and eating again too soon after a meal. Those with this as their main life force may develop issues like anxiety, skin problems, arthritis, asthma and heart disease

Pita dosha

This energy controls the digestion, metabolism and certain hormones that are linked to a person’s appetite. Things that can disrupt it include eating sour and spicy foods and spending too much time in the sun. People with this as their main life force are thought to be more likely to develop conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, Crohn’s disease and infections.

Kapha dosha

This life force controls muscle growth, body stability and strength, weight and the immune system. It can be disrupted by sleeping during the day, eating too many sweet foods, and eating or drinking too many things that contain too much salt or water. If this is the main life energy, an individual may develop asthma or other breathing issues, cancer, diabetes, nausea after eating, and obesity.

An Ayurvedic practitioner will create a treatment plan that is designed specifically for the individual. They will take into account their unique physical and emotional makeup, their primary life force, and the balance between all of these three elements.

Does it actually work?

Several Ayurvedic treatment materials have not been thoroughly studied in either conventional Western or Indian research. Some of the products used in Ayurvedic medicine contain herbs, metals, minerals or other materials that may prove to be harmful if used improperly or without the direction of a trained practitioner. Ayurvedic medications are regulated as dietary supplements rather than as drugs in the United States, so a lot of them are not required to meet safety and efficacy standards for conventional medication. It is also possible that the medication can interact and even work against the effects of conventional Western medicine. This is why it is important to properly investigate the training and background of Ayurvedic practitioners before patronizing them.

Kerala Ayurvedic practice has added a few upgrades and specialities, and this slightly differentiates them from the ayurvedic treatment practised in other parts of India. One can engage the services of a trusted meditour agency and schedule a health tourism trip to India.

Caution

  • It is advised not to use Ayurvedic medicine to postpone seeing a conventional healthcare provider about a medical issue.
  • Consult with a healthcare provider if there is a health issue before choosing to use or patronize Ayurvedic products and practitioners.
  • Pregnant women, nursing mothers and children may be harmed by some of the components of Ayurvedic treatments, so it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider.
  • Talk with the conventional healthcare provider about any complementary or integrative health approaches employed. Give them a full picture of what is done to improve or manage their health. It will be beneficial in ensuring coordinated and safe care for an individual.

It is important to ensure that any diagnosis of a disease or health condition is conducted by a conventional healthcare provider who has had substantial conventional medical training and has experience in managing that particular disease or medical condition. While Ayurveda can have positive effects when used as a complementary therapy in combination with standard, conventional medical care, it should, however, not replace standard, conventional medical care, especially in the treatment of severe health challenges. India is famous as a destination for overseas medical treatment, especially for Ayurveda.
